We are currently working on two of the most innovative and advanced Naval Defence contracts in Australia– the Collins Class Submarine Through-Life Support Project and the Air Warfare Destroyer Program. We are currently seeking to appoint an Obsolescence Coordinator to join our Collins Class Submarines Engineering Department.
Reporting to the Submarine Engineering Manager the Obsolescence Coordinator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the proactive and reactive corporate systems identifying obsolescence issues affecting the Collins Class Submarine as fitted product baseline. Once these issues have been identified this role will then manage the prioritisation of effort and ensure cost effective and compliant solutions are identified and the issues resolved so as not to affect Submarine operational availability.
The Obsolescence Coordinator will also be required to liaise with ASC subcontractor and customer personnel on stores related issues and resolve problems as well as the preparation of individual obsolescence business cases for identified solutions. The review of ASC technical documentation for assigned systems and areas of responsibility, subcontractor plans, procedures, reports and technical progress and Customer and Vendor furnished information are also important responsibilities of this role.
The successful applicant will possess qualifications or equivalent qualifications in Supply Systems or Inventory Control and experience in Defence industry or similar domains in highly configurable supply chain principles and processes. An ability to prioritise work to meet technical requirements and project schedules as well as manage and supervise a small team, are also essential requirements for this role.
Knowledge of COLLINS Class submarine systems, or those of other Navy submarines of contemporary equivalence and a thorough understanding of marine/electrical/mechanical engineering gained through service trade and post trade training or similar industry experience would also be highly desirable.
